Willard (Bill) E. Unrein

Willard (Bill) E. Unrein, 84, passed away on May 12, 2021 at Northern Colorado Medical Center (NCMC) under Hospice Care. He was born on July 16, 1936 to Anthony and Clementine (Heili) Unrein in Garden City, KS. He attended school through the 8th grade. At age 17, he joined the Air Force and received his GED in the service. Bill met the love of his life, Sue A. Brown, at a dance while stationed in Salina, KS. They were married six months later in Wichita, KS on February 27, 1960 and moved to Colorado in 1962.
Bill worked 29 years at Honeywell as an Electronic Technician. He retired at age 55 and went on to volunteer 22 years at NCMC. Volunteering was truly his passion. Bill loved making people smile or help them get through a tough day. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the Rocky Mountains.
In 2017 he went on the Honor Flight to Washington DC. His youngest daughter, Donna, was his guardian on this trip.
Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sue Unrein of Greeley, CO; three children, Debra (Norman) Blehm of Brighton, CO; David Unrein of LaSalle, CO; Donna (David) Ward of Loveland, CO; two grandsons, Jonathan Ward of Melbourne, FL and Michael Ward of Loveland, CO; two sisters, Dorothy Schadegg of Peck, KS and Darlene (Duane) Patrick of Lindsborg, KS; two sisters-in-law, Velda Unrein of Andale, KS and Linda Smith of Rhinelander, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stillborn daughter, Susan; five siblings, LeRoy, Benedict, Shirley, Dennis and Judy.
A Memorial Service will be Friday, May 21, 2021 at 10:00 am at Northern Colorado Crematory followed by Military Honors at Linn Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Weld Food Bank or Meals on Wheels of Greeley and Weld County.
