Obituary for Steve Valdez

Steven Michael Valdez of Greeley went to meet the Lord on February 25th, 2020.
Steve was born in Greeley, Colorado on September 18th, 1948 to Vivian Valdez and Evangelina “Vangie” Guzman. From the age of 12 Steve was raised by his stepdad, Ray Guzman.

Steve loved playing pool and going to Blackhawk to play Texas Hold’em. He was known as the Blackhawk Kid. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He was an excellent masonry. He was a man of many trades. Steve was meticulous in maintaining his cars. He loved spending time with his grandchildren whether it was watching baseball games, walking to the gas station, or going to cheer competitions.

Steve is survived by his children Craig (Gina) Marquez of Anchorage, Alaska,
Misty Martinez of Greeley, Michael Aragon of Greeley, Maria (Mike) Libretti of Greeley;
12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and one on the way. Steve is also survived by his mother Vangie; stepfather Ray; father Vivian; Brothers Fred, Jerry, Pete, Richard, Jimmy, Mark, Louie; Sisters Marilyn, Debbie, Lori, Marina, Rebecca, Benita.

He was preceded in death by younger brother Richard Guzman.

A Recitation of the rosary starting at 6:15 p.m. followed by a viewing on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020 at Northern Colorado Crematory, 700 8th St, Greeley.

A Celebration of Life will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Church, 915 12th Street, Greeley followed by a reception in the church hall.
