Phillip Michael Casey, 39, of Denver, CO was freed from this lifetime on April 7, 2020 in Greeley, CO in search of the answers he sought most his life. Phillip, known to family and friends as “Flipper”, was born in Denver, CO on October 23, 1980.

Flipper, or just “Flip”, was an emotional and restless soul who questioned the universe, humanity, authority, and the meaning of life. He spent his life searching for his place in a world that didn’t always understand or appreciate the profundity of his questions, the depth of his soul, or enormity of his heart. Flip often best expressed his thoughts and feelings through artistic expression, his passion for music, and one special time, through a poem he penned with his younger brother Colin.

“Earthly Love”

I love this world
And everything in it.

I love the flowers
And the sea
And the summer breeze.

I love the birds
And the dirt
And the trees.

I love the dogs and the cats
And the honey bees.

I hope everyone around me sees
The beauty that occurs to me.

Situations bring to light

That someday it could all
Be alright.

Everything has value to me
All the pain
And the plight.

Love is my guide.

This journey is one we must take alone
But we must share this home.

Let’s make peace not war
This is my dream.

I could ask for nothing more.

Phillip is survived by his mother Kandace (Vogt) Kimble and stepfather Harold as well as his father Joseph Casey and stepmother Kay. He also leaves behind his brothers Brett, Jeremy, Colin, stepbrother Mason, and a large, loving, extended family.

Philip Casey was one of my favorite childhood friends. He was always at my birthday parties, we loved watching He-Man together and acting out all the characters. We watched Scooby Doo and the Smurf’s. We played, we rode bikes, we laughed. But most of all I remember that I always felt like he was my brother. Just like all the Casey boys. But Flipper was special in the fact that we were exactly one month apart in age so he was especially unique in my eyes...I loved his smile and his golden locks. He was hilarious!! In our teenage years we went to Fun-Plex and Skate City. We grew apart as adults but I will most definitely cherish the time I got to spend with him. His memory will live on...in my mind and heart...I’ll always love you Flipper...You will be missed...

I remember a sweet, special time I spent with Phillip. He was somewhere between 7 and 9. I was watching him at our home in Highlands Ranch. I asked him if he wanted to go on a bike ride, he did. We rode bikes on the bike path all the way down W. County Line Rd to S. Santa Fe Dr and back. He loved it! That was quite a ride for a little guy.

He loved animals. I remember when he insisted we save a turtle that we found in our backyard in Texas. So Flip, me, T.J. Erec, and Brendan drove to TWU, while Flip was holding the turtle in a box we found to drop it off in their pond.
