Margaret “Peggy” Elizabeth Wagner, 82, of Keenesburg, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on January 11, 2021.

Margaret was born in Riverton, Wyoming to Fred and Clara (Tautfest) Kissler on August 28, 1938. Her family moved to Fort Lupton in 1948 where they farmed for many years. She attended Fort Lupton schools and graduated in 1956. In school she was active in choir, Brain Bruisers Club and was a member of the National Honor Society. After high school, she attended business college in Denver and received an associate degree. She then went to work for the Great Western Sugar Factory where she worked in the lab for many campaigns. Margaret was wed to her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Dan Wagner, on January 19, 1958 in Fort Lupton Colorado.

In 1972, after purchasing the dairy herd from her parents, Margaret and Dan relocated to the farm they had purchased in Keenesburg. Margaret was an integral part of the farm and handled all aspects of the dairy operation, even including the AI of the cows. In addition to the milk production she could be found in the fields working the ground, baling and stacking hay, driving truck for silage harvest or even helping neighbors get their crops in as she loved beet harvest.

Margaret had many hobbies, among them were playing softball, bowling and playing the organ and piano. She also enjoyed puzzles of any sort. She was a member of the community choir and sang in many Christmas and Easter performances. She was also an accomplished seamstress and made many of her children’s clothes as they were growing up. Margaret was a huge supporter of her children and grandchildren and would often be found attending sporting events, dance recitals and band and choir performances. She will be remembered as an incredible gardener and for her wonderful cooking and special birthday meals she prepared for each member of the family.

Margaret is survived by her children, Chris (Bridgette) Wagner, Brad (Elaine) Wagner, Renee (Todd) Perkins, and Elizabeth (Adam) Francis; son-in-law Steve Sopata; grandchildren, Dustin (Rachel) Coffelt, Cheyenne (Nick) Wagner, Steven Sopata Jr, Jennifer (Jarrod) Oliver, Rachel (Alex) Rydgren, Ryan Perkins, Braydon Francis and Breanya Francis; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Colleen (Leo) Avey, Joyce (Paul) Flot, and Judy (Harold) Corliss; and a large loving extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Dawn ‘Dani’ Wagner; granddaughter, Jaclyn ‘Brea’ Wagner; and parents.

A Celebration of Life will be in the Summer of 2021.
