LaVerne Evans, 92, of Greeley, went to be with the Lord on April 16, 2019 in Loveland, Colo.

LaVerne was born in Moneta, Wyoming to Anton & Anna (Kastner) Gebert on June 16, 1926.

On June 14, 1947, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, LaVerne married the love of her life, Phillip Evans.

She grew up in Nebraska. LaVerne worked at the capitol in Lincoln, Nebraska to help put Phil through Pharmacy school. She called it her PHD. Putting Hubby through college Degree. After college, they moved to Colorado to raise their family.

Once Phil started working at their pharmacy, Greeley Medical Center Pharmacy, she worked alongside him all those years as his bookkeeper.

They joined First United Presbyterian Church in 1958.

They enjoyed being active in the church. Mom taught Sunday school, served on session, and she and Phil were very active in the couples group called Mariners. Mom had a servant’s heart and mission mindset. She served on the mission committee for many years. Mom served on the benevolent committee helping with memorial service receptions up until she was 90+ years old. More recently, LaVerne was active in Precious Jewels, Light Seekers, Fellowship Lunch, Life Group, Women’s Bible Study, and Prayer group. She loved to bake cookies and was always baking some for someone’s birthday or other occasions.

LaVerne also had a heart for those going through difficult times. She was always sending cards to those who needed cheering up and she would remember to pray for them. In addition to church life, the family enjoyed the mountains, staying at their cabin in Glen Haven, and later on, their cabin in Fairplay, Colorado. LaVerne and Phil were also great square dancers.
She especially enjoyed her family and loved them deeply. LaVerne was a great mom, wife and friend; and most of all, she was a prayer warrior.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

LaVerne is survived by her children, Tom (Sandi) Evans, Patty (John) Kerst, Kay (Gerry) Stein, and Ginny (Brian) Reilly; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris (Jerry Savage) Albin, and a large, loving extended family.
