Israel Mendez, 17, of Milliken, went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2019 in Greeley.

Israel was born in Greeley to Jessie Mendez & Denise Davila on August 29, 2001.

He was a loving and caring person. He loved music, rapping, and writing his own lyrics. He always wanted to be a rapper someday. Israel had many goals, to include going to college for computers once he graduated from High School. He also enjoyed art, throwing the football around with his brother, and playing basketball.

Israel always had a smile on his face. He loved his father, Jessie, and couldn’t wait to see him again. His best friend was his brother, Fabian, and sister, Iesha, whom he loved hanging out with. He dearly loved all of his friends and family.

Israel’s favorite team were the Denver Broncos, and he liked to collect red hats “His favorite color).

As a child Israel loved to wrestle with his brother, Fabian and watching Sponge Bob. Throughout his life, he continued to love pizza, hamburgers, tacos, watermelon,.. ohh, can’t forget about those HOT CHEETOS.

Israel is survived by his biological parents; guardian parents, Mary & Joe Benavides; step-mother, Melanie Sanchez; siblings, Fabian, Iesha, and Jessica Mendez; step-siblings, Jolett Benavides, Amara Lansfield, Michael A. Mendez Jr., Joshua and Mariah Gonzales; grandmother, Yolanda Sanchez; aunts, Patricia Mendez, Francis Llamas, Lupita Sanchez, and Josephine Sanchez; uncle, George Sanchez, and Michael Mendez; and a large loving extended family.

He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Angel Mendez; and grandfather, Jessie Mendez.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00pm on Monday, July 19, 2019 at Grace Community Church, 2033 W South 1st St, Johnstown, CO 80534

My heart was caught when I saw you lost your precious son Izzy and I wanted to send my warmest condolences to the family. To lose such a beautiful child, a part of you, can bring such overwhelming grief and our words may not help but Jesus assures us at John 5:28,29 that you will have your son in your arms once again without the pain we see today. Until God’s promises come true may every good thought, every memory of the love you felt, flood and overtake you with calm and peace to help you through the dark moments.
